Hanoi

Hanoi - the heart and soul of Vietnam and the familiar name to all Vietnamese people. Known by many names down the centuries, only until 1976 Hanoi was officially declared the capital of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Invading forces from every direction agree: Hanoi makes a fine capital.
The city is located on the right bank of the Red River and receives fertile alluvium from this River.
Until now, Hanoi still preserves many ancient architectural works ( Hanoi attractions ) including: One Pillar Pagoda (built in 1042), the Temple of Literature (built in 1070), or the Old Quarter and over 600 pagodas. Around Hanoi, there are still many traditional handicrafts village. Feature with a delta region and many lakes located in the city, Hanoi give you special natural charm. With Chinese influence from centuries of dominance, and under domination of France, Hanoi is well known for its long history and French colonial architecture. The Old Quarter is second only to Hoi An for uninterrupted stretches of colonial and pre-colonial architecture, well-preserved on dense warrens of narrow, wonderfully atmospheric streets. Hanoi now is the most important social, cultural, and economic center of Vietnam.
With the subtropical climate, Hanoi has four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Spring (February to April) is humidity, summer (May to July) is hot, winter (November to January next year) is cold and autumn (August to October) is the best time for travel.
In spring, the weather starts to warm up with light rain and high humidity. Summer is intolerable, the temperature can reach to 38oC, very hot and humid. Autumn in the other hand is the best time for travel with less humidity in the air. There is a typical tree called “Cay Hoa Sua” which only has its flower in Autumn. The flower is totally white and has a very distinct aroma. Winter can be a bit cruel because it is not only very cold but also very humid with light rain. The lowest temperature can be 10oC.
